A Three Course Meal for a Little Price

Does this sound familiar to you: Your family or friends are coming over tonight, you have to cook, you don’t know what to cook and your wallet is almost empty? You want to know how to cook a three course meal for a litte price? I have the solution, because a three course meal doesn’t have to be expensive. For less than € 5 per person you have a delicious starter, main course and dessert.

This three course meal costs € 5 per person:

Creamy courgettesoup

Here’s what you need (4 pers.):

  • 2 courgettes
  • 2 onions
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 250ml whipped cream
  • 1 cube
  • 1 litre water
  • 15g mint
  • 1 teaspoon Provençal herbs
  • 12 tablespoons olive oil
  • A blender

Wash and cut the courgettes in small pieces. Chop the onions. Heat 4 tablespoons olive oil in a pan and fry the onions. After that, add the courgette, garlic and Provençal herbs and fry three minutes. Add the cube and 1 litre water. Heat it up to boiling point. Then let it slowly boil.

Pick some mint and cut finely. Do it in the blender with 8 tablespoons olive oil. Blend until it’s a smooth substance and add some pepper and salt.
Mash the soup with the blender to a smooth soup. Add ¾ of the whipped cream and heat the soup for one minute. Don’t forget  to add pepper and salt for a better taste. Serve the soup in a bowl with a dash mint-oil and a dash of whipped cream. You can serve it with French bread or cheese straws.

Crispy Chicken with paprika, mushrooms, small potatoes and salad

What you need is:

  • 500g chicken fillet
  • Mix for crispy chicken (for example ‘Maggi’)
  • 1 egg
  • 12 mushrooms
  • 1 red paprika
  • 500g small potatoes
  • 1 package iceberg lettuce
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 tomato
  • Salad dressing

Prepare the chicken fillet as described on the package of the mix for crispy chicken and roast it for twenty minutes in the oven. Cook the small potatoes with the small cutted paprika and mushrooms. Serve with salad, cucumber and tomato.

Brownies with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and raspberries

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • Brownies: homemade or instant
  • Whipped cream
  • Raspberries or other red fruits

Get a plate. Put some ice cream on the plate with 1 piece of brownie, a clod whipped cream and some raspberries. That’s all! Bon apétit. 

So you see a three course meal doesn’t have to be expensive. If you’ll surprise your parents or will have a cosy night with friends: for less than € 5 per person you have a great meal. Of course you can change the ingredients, for example another taste of ice cream, baked lamb chops or roasted salmon in the oven or instead of the courgettesoup you can make tomato soup.
